The Nintendo Switch 2 has sold over 3.5 million units within its first four days of launch. It reportedly had a strong launch in the UK, unseating the Nintendo 3DS for best Nintendo hardware launch week in the region, and the United States is no different.
Circana’s Mat Piscatella revealed the Switch 2 set a “new all-time launch week unit sales record for video game hardware in the US,” selling over 1.1 million units for the week ending June 7th. It’s beaten the PlayStation 4’s record, and this doesn’t even include My Nintendo Store sales. Unsurprisingly, the best-selling title for the week was Mario Kart World. Whether it’s a physical copy or the $499.99 limited-time Switch 2 bundle, 79 percent of consumers have taken to the karting life.
The next two best-selling physical Switch 2 titles for the week were Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition. The latter is interesting since Switch 1 owners can upgrade to the Switch 2 version for $10 (or by subscribing to Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack). It could mean a hefty number of new players, but we’ll have to wait for official numbers.
The Nintendo Switch 2 is available for $449.99. Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition costs $69.99, while Mario Kart World and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition retails for $79.99.
