Keeping up its spree of releasing short teaser trailers, developer Build A Rocket Boy has released yet another one for its upcoming third-person narrative-focused action game MindsEye. This time around, the teaser focuses entirely on on-foot combat, showing us how protagonist Jacob Diaz can take on various threats with his arsenal. Check out the latest teaser below.

The teaser kicks things off by showing us some cover-based combat, before having Diaz take a more active role in the fight by running up to his enemies. The teaser also reveals that there will be non-human fights in the form of a drone. We also get to see Diaz using a power that lets him see the location of his enemies through walls.

While most of the fight involves the use of an assault rifle, we also get to see a different energy-based weapon towards the end. As more enemy reinforcements arrive, Diaz switches to what appears to be a fully automatic rifle that shoots energy, with which he is able to take out the enemy’s vehicle in the matter of a few shots.

Right before the teaser ends, we also get a quick glimpse at the weapon wheel, which shows a host of different weapons: a pistol, a sniper, an assault rifle, a shotgun, a submachine gun, an energy rifle, and what looks like it might be a heavier machine gun.

This is the third teaser for MindsEye released by Build A Rocket Boy, after the first one that focused on more on-foot action, and a second one that focused on a car chase. The first trailer had Diaz using a variety of his weapons, including a pistol and a shotgun, while the second trailer, despite being in the midst of a car chase, focused more on a conversation between Diaz and another character named Claudia.

Now that three of these teasers are out, it is also worth noting that this is the same gameplay footage that was leaked earlier in May. The leak came about through a streamer reacting to footage he was sent by Build A Rocket Boy that, at the time, wasn’t meant to be shared with the general public.

With the teasers having struck a balance between focusing on narrative and gameplay so far, it should come as no surprise that the narrative of MindsEye will be an incredibly important part of the game. Assistant game director Adam Whiting spoke about wanting to present a “well-crafted” story rather than trying to get rich quick by hoping to hit gold with a live-service game.

“I understand that the landscape has changed, and, you know, games are so expensive to make I think that people are trying to build like, you know, big live service games,” said Whiting. “But I think there’s something to be said about just like a really meaningful, well-paced, really well-constructed, well-crafted story that players can immerse themselves in, that’s got moments of tension, character development, tender moments, and then moments of spectacle and drama.”

MindsEye is coming to PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S on June 10.
